When particularly large disputes arise that are impossible to fix in the status quo, it is possible to quit your society and form a new one as a peaceful to way to solve the dispute.
Self-Determination is widely recognized in international law and various agreements and treaties throughout the world.

The United Nations Charter describes the operation of an organization to which most of the nations on Earth are a part. Chapter I, Article 1, Paragraph 2 states the purpose of the United Nations is
"To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace."
Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Co-operation among States in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations
Recognizes the right of self-determination of peoples:
"...all peoples have the right freely to determine, without external interference, their political status and to pursue their economic, social and cultural development,
and every State has the duty to respect this right in accordance with the provisions of the Charter."
"All peoples have the right of self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development."
